50 Cent’s “The Final Lap Tour” 2 days in Melbourne 5th & 6th December
Curtis James Jackson III, known professionally as 50 Cent, is an American rapper, actor, television producer, entrepreneur, mogul and businessman. Born in South Side Jamaica Queens, New York, Jackson began pursuing a musical career in 1996. His first major-label album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin”, in 2003 was released to critical acclaim and commercial success, including hits such as “In Da Club” and “21 Questions“. That same year, he launched his label, G-Unit Records, with initial members Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo.
Not only is 50 Cent an award-winning musician, but he has also ventured into launching an alcohol line, films, TV shows, clothing, vitamin water, and more!
On the 5th of December, 50 Cent played his 90th show from the Final Lap tour in Melbourne, and I wasn’t expecting the spectacle he put on. On arrival, a huge digital banner read, “Welcome to 50 Cent”. The line upon entry was massive, but once most of the people were in the venue, the show kicked off with a DJ who surely knew how to hype the crowd and get the party starting!
RnB legend Jeramih graced the stage singing songs from his “Late Nights” album. He had strippers going up and down the pole and even got given a special lap dance in front of the crowd, showcasing one highly sexualised set.

50 Cent was up next and was about to give us two hours of classic tracks! His entrance was crazy! They rolled out a large glass box that slowly filled up with smoke. The box then split in half slowly and opened to reveal the king himself standing proudly inside the box with one fist in the air, rapping his first song, “What Up Gangster.” As he exited the box, he was joined by fellow G-Unit squad Tony Yayo & Uncle Murda, who would accompany him throughout the show. 50 changed outfits, including chains, at least 15 times throughout the entire set! Talk about a New York Broadway spectacle! This guy is definitely from Queens because those outfit changes were unreal! His backup dancers also changed outfits several times, and I noticed the band changed clothes at least once!

A few songs in 50 performed “Magic Stick“, where the three boys received a lap dance from the dancers. He then played “How We Do“, followed by some crazy-ass breakdancers. One did a backflip from where the band played about 5 meters high. 50, then ran to the top of the stage where the band was playing and watched the breakdances do their thing. All of a sudden, a loud bang! Fireworks right in front of 50. He then suddenly disappears, almost as if it was a magic trick.
Up next was the moment you have seen going viral all over your social media pages. From disappearing at the top of the stage, our attention shifts to the arena’s middle. Two large digital boxes were moving into each other, displaying sci-fi imagery of a human body. Attached to a harness that was rigged to wires, 50 Cent revealed himself as the boxes separated, leaving him floating in the open-air stadium. The crowd screams with astonishment as he slowly lowers to the stage. As he touches down, “PIMP” plays, and the crowd goes wild!

From one trick to the next, 50 Cent, a man of many talents, can now add magicians to his list as he amazes the crowd with more cool maneuvers for each song. For the opening theme song to “Power“, he is seen being lowered into the ground. Right after he sings “Baby By Me“, he walks backwards into the wall of his set, and suddenly, his shirt rips off three times, revealing a new shirt each time to show a plane white wifebeater finally and, yes, you guessed it right, a new chain!

There were confetti cannons galore! The number of fireworks, pyro, and smoke they fired out, including all the outfit and set changes, made it feel like a different concert for each song. You can see where your money is going and why these tickets were priced in the hundreds.
