In celebration of his 30th birthday, GRAMMY-award-winning singer, songwriter & producer LEON THOMAS announces his highly-anticipated debut album, Electric Dusk, OUT NOW via EZMNY Records/Motown Records.
Named after LA’s longest-running drive-in theatre, Electric Dusk, serves as Leon’s love letter to film in addition to the trials and tribulations Leon has faced over the last few years. The sonically diverse album touches on the topic of love, heartbreak, and growth while transcending listeners into an alternative reality. Electric Dusk will feature tracks “Love Jones” ft Ty Dolla $ign, “X-Rated” ft. Benny The Butcher, “Breaking Point” and “Crash & Burn”. Being a master of his craft, Leon is proven to be the leader of the next generation of multi-faceted artists. For the last ten years, Leon has been writing and producing for artists such as Ella Mai, SZA, Post Malone, and more in addition to being an accomplished actor. As he heads into the next chapter of his life, Leon fully develops his artistry as he establishes himself as a solo artist. Leon is set to open for Ty Dolla $ign on his “more motion less emotion tour” starting on September 15th in San Diego and ending on October 27th in San Francisco
Lead singles “Breaking Point” and “Crash & Burn” illustrate the depth of Leon’s sound, between ballads and gospel-infused soundscapes. Leon states that “This album makes me think about the 1960s, drop-top Cadillac at the drive-in, looking out at a scenic view, listening to a crooner sing about love. I wanted to capture that vibe with these records but in a new way.”
I sat down with Leon Thomas via a virtual Zoom Press conference call, and chat with him for a few minutes before he gears up for his upcoming tour.

Yeah, I’m really digging your vibe, I’m obsessed with the whole soulful feel, I think the world really needs it right now

Yeah, so my question to you was, you said during the process of this Album, there were a lot of trials and tribulations in terms of labels and things like that. What would be the most challenging obstacle you’ve faced and overcome throughout this process?
[Leon]
Oh man, I’ve been waiting to talk about this. So I think the most challenging thing was like waiting for corporations to like kinda fall in place. Because I had like uh…I had label deals before this with this exact album, that kinda slowed up my process kinda right off of the momentum of like ‘Genesis’ and being all insecure and um, I had to wait it out, and I went through a whole legal battle prior to being able to sign to Easy Money, so you know that was really tough because I had this music in my back pocket you know records that your listening too now were done like years ago, and I knew the world would really love them, but um, I kinda had to wait it out until like some of this legal stuff was over so, Im really glad that you know I ended up with Ty and with Capitol Music Group, and Motown and um, I feel like we’re definitely at a really good place now, but it took a minute for me to get through a lot of those trials and tribulations
